Graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Dimity made her professional operatic debut for Opera Australia in 1998, singing the role of Rosina in The Barber of Seville and has since performed extensively with the country’s leading opera companies including Opera Queensland, Oz Opera, Victorian Opera, Chambermade Opera and Melbourne Opera.
Her repertoire spans some of the best-known operatic roles including the title role in Carmen, Ruggiero in Alcina, Tisbe in Cenerentola, Rebecca in Love in the Age of Therapy, Stephano in Romeo & Juliet, Orphee in Orphee & Eurydice, Elizabeth in The Children’s Bach, Alice in Through the Looking Glass, Nireno in Julius Caesar and Mercurius in Der Streit zwischen Phoebus und Pan.
Her performance as Lucy in The Threepenny Opera saw her nominated for a Helpmann Award, while her role as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro earned her a Greenroom Award.
Dimity is also an experienced concert singer, having performed as a soloist in Haydn’s Nelson Mass with the National Boys’ Choir in the Melbourne Concert Hall, Peter Sculthorpe’s String Quartet No.13 Island Dreaming in the 2002 Sydney Festival, regularly in Opera Under The Stars in Broome, and in opera concerts for WA Opera. She has also appeared in Vaughan Williams’ Serenade To Music for the opening of the Melbourne Recital Centre, as soloist in Handel’s Messiah for the Melbourne Symphony and in Goliyov’s Ayre at the 2012 Fremantle Arts Festival.
