Graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University with a Bachelor of Music, Guy also completed further study in Germany and in New York with world-renowned voice coach Neil Semer.
Guy has performed a number of roles with Opera Queensland including the Doctor in a concert presentation of Macbeth, Gaoler in Tosca,Happy in The Girl of the Golden West, Second Armed Man in The Magic Flute, Peter Dawson in Waltzing Our Matilda and Herald in Otello. He has also been a member of the Opera Queensland chorus since 2003, performing in Tosca, Carmen, Romeo & Juliet, Lucia di Lammermoor, Nabucco, Turandot, Rigoletto, The Elixir of Love, The Merry Widow, Aida and The Mikado.
In addition to his Opera Queensland appearances, Guy has also performed the role of Schaunard in La bohème for the State Opera of South Australia and Papageno in The Magic Flute for Co-Opera in Australia, Germany and Switzerland. His concert repertoire includes appearances with Cheryl Barker and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Sunset Opera, Music Beneath the Stars, Opera in the Park and A Night at the Opera.
Guy’s operatic work has won him the Dame Joan Sutherland Award (2002), Donald Penman Prize (2003), Jeffrey Black Scholarship (2004), South East Queensland Aria and Concerto Competition (2007), and National Lieder Competition (2007), while also gaining him a finalist place in San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program auditions (2007).
