Background: Graduate of both the Victorian College of the Arts and the Melba Conservatorium of Music. Recipient of the 2004 Johnston Bequest and the 2004 Belcanto Scholarship.
For Opera Queensland: Sang leading roles in The Love of the Nightingale (also for West Australian Opera and Victorian Opera, for which he won the Helpmann Award as Best Male Singer in a Supporting Role).
Other engagements: The Henchman in Batavia, Bird Seller in Der Rosenkavalier, Francesco in The Gondoliers, Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (Opera Australia), Elvino in La sonnambula and Don Carissimo in La Dirindina (Belcanto Festival in the Netherlands), Tamino in The Magic Flute, Nadir in The Pearl Fishers, Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville and Rodolfo in La bohème (Melbourne Opera), Nadir in The Pearl Fishers, Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville , Remendado in Carmen, Ismaele in Nabucco and Pluto in Orpheus in the Underworld (West Australian Opera), Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw (Victorian Opera), Rodolfo in La bohème, Nadir in The Pearl Fishers, Laurie in Little Women and Ishmael in Moby-Dick (State Opera of South Australia). Also created the role in the one-man opera Tell Tale Heart for the Castlemaine Festival in 2005.
Concert engagements: Has performed as the tenor soloist in Haydn’s The Creation, Bach's St. John Passion and Cantatas Nos. 21 and 137, and appeared in concert with the Adelaide, Melbourne, Queensland, West Australian and Canberra Symphony Orchestras, Auckland Philharmonia, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and the Twilite Orchestra in Jakarta.
