“Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art. Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.” ANDY WARHOL
Following its high acclaim in Madrid and London, Brisbane Festival and OperaQ join forces to bring the latest opera from the iconic composer Philip Glass- commissioned to mark his 75th birthday - to Brisbane in 2014.
A stunning international and Australian cast and creative team make this one of the year’s most exciting music theatre events. Based on Peter Stephan Jungk’s novel, The Perfect American imagines the final months of Walt Disney’s life, including mythical imaginings of Abraham Lincoln and Andy Warhol.
Creators of this visually spectacular production featuring ingenious animated projections are British theatre director Phelim McDermott (Satyagraha, Metropolitan Opera) and leading international designer Dan Potra (Sydney 2000 Olympic Games opening ceremony) and conductor Gareth Jones (Sinfonia Cymru, ENO). Acclaimed British baritone Christopher Purves is Walt Disney, while Cheryl Barker sings the role of Hazel, Disney’s nurse and confidante, and Kanen Breen is Andy Warhol.
