Opera Queensland and ABC Radio National present:
Bad Boys and Mean Girls: Why do we love the villains, floozies and cads?
Join us for the first of our popular public discussions in 2014 where we will explore why we love the villainous characters in fiction and in real life and why composers like Verdi have written some of the most sublime arias to texts that are most unsavoury.
The forum will be moderated by writer and broadcaster Martin Buzacott with guest panellists OperaQ Artistic Director, Lindy Hume and Chief Conductor of Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Johannes Fritzsch with former Supreme Court Judge and Australian Composer, George Palmer.
The evening will also feature performances by Michael Lewis, Rosario La Spina, Elena Xanthoudakis, Dimity Shepherd and Jaewoo Kim, accompanied by Jillianne Stoll, from Opera Queensland's forthcoming production of Rigoletto.
This is a free event. If you would like to attend, email us.
