Open Stage is a program that’s at the heart and soul of Opera Queensland. Everyone is welcome at Open Stage from our hugely popular Community Workshops, to our authentic and engaging arts learning experiences in schools.

In 2014 the Open Stage team will continue to connect our communities with the power of creative expression and the human voice through our various programs.

Manager – Open Stage, Mark Taylor MEd. BEd. And Creative Director – Open Stage, Jason Barry-Smith BMus (Hons) bring together their education and performing arts backgrounds to lead a team of OperaQ artists to deliver workshops, residencies and performances across the state. They are joined by guest artists and creatives from interstate  performing arts companies and recent graduates from the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA).

“It was great fun and fostered a sense of community and joint purpose - harmonies are something you cannot create alone. People were taken gently out of their comfort zones and possibilities created.
Thank you.”

Robyn, 50+ workshop, Townsville

“It helped me a lot to show everyone my true self, and I made a lot of friends, and it made me confident.”

Student, Varsity College, Gold Coast
