How can I find out more about the opera I’m attending?
Come 45 minutes before the start of each performance and enjoy a free talk by one of the friendly Opera Queensland team, designed to give juicy backstage insights and share knowledge of the music you’re about to hear and production you’re about to see. (And yes, you can ask questions!)
Do I need to know the story?
You’ll receive a free program as you enter the theatre which details the story of the opera. Or explore our website - you can read the full synopsis, learn more about the artists, and maybe even get a sneak peek of the production.
What if they sing in another language?
Following the action in operas sung in languages other than English is easy – just watch the projected surtitles above the stage for a simultaneous translation.
Can I bring young children?
Very young children can struggle to stay still and quiet for extended periods. In order to ensure an enjoyable experience for all our patrons, Opera Queensland reserves the right of admittance for children under 8.
What if I’m late?
You will be admitted into the theatre at a suitable break in the performance, however sometimes this may not be until interval.
And if I lose my ticket?
Don’t worry – tickets can be replaced. Just call the qtix Box Office on 136 246 to arrange a lost ticket voucher.
What should I wear?
Wear jeans or a tiara – or both. Whatever you’re comfortable in.
Can I film the opera?
Cameras and tape recorders are forbidden in the theatre as their use would infringe copyright production of the performance. While we’re on the topic, please turn off your mobile phones before entering the theatre.
