Primary In-School Workshop

Suitable for Years 4 to 7

Terms 1 to 4

Open Stage’s primary school program uses the arts to encourage cross-curricular learning and engage students while introducing them to opera and music theatre. This program shows children that opera is simply a story told through drama and song, and is aligned with the Australian English and Queensland Arts Curriculums to encourage critical literacy skills.

‘Dear Mr Mark, I would like to thank you for teaching the class about the way opera works and about your job.  I would also like to thank you for introducing us to the wonders of opera and that it doesn’t just mean a fat lady singing for 4 hours.’  Year 6/7 student, Rockville State School
