REGIONAL QUEENSLAND – A BOUNDLESS LANDSCAPE

Building on more than two decades of regional activity across this vast and diverse state, in 2013 Opera Queensland continues to deliver highest quality opera and music theatre experiences for regional communities across Queensland.

Waltzing Our Matilda – On Tour!

Following a terrific response in 2012 to our Mikado tour, in 2013 we’ll be touring to centres across Queensland, including Quilpie, Biloela and Goondiwindi, with Waltzing Our Matilda, an intimate and warmly entertaining musical evening created by Jason and Leisa Barry-Smith and Narelle French. Waltzing Our Matilda features Jason Barry-Smith as the legendary Australian poet Banjo Paterson and a five-member cast in an affectionate salute to some of Queensland’s most celebrated musical icons.

Open Stage - Discover Your Creative Potential!

No matter where you live, whatever your age or skill level, Open Stage is a great way to get involved with your opera company and bring out your creative best. This year we will bring our Moving Opera and all-ages education and community programs to more communities across regional Queensland. So look out for your opera company and get involved!

2014 Community Chorus project

Beginning in 2013, a unique Opera Queensland initiative connects our regional tour with our Open Stage program. We’ll be inviting regional Queensland performing arts groups to creatively engage with their opera company, developing an Opera Queensland Chorus in several regional centres to perform with our professional principals, soloists and musicians in 2014.
