Opera is life less ordinary

In 2014 we present a bold, diverse season that traverses artistic and regional boundaries, embraces some of opera’s most beloved repertoire and never compromises on excellence. It’s a journey to sweep you through the year on extraordinary music, from the crystalline beauty of Händel’s baroque arias to the driving momentum of Philip Glass’s latest opera, via two of opera’s greatest masterworks. We’re proud to be working with some of the world’s most talented and innovative performers, musicians, creative teams and conductors, with our friends and collaborators at Dancenorth, Brisbane Powerhouse, New Zealand Opera and Brisbane Festival.

From the breathtaking arias of La bohème and Rigoletto to the contemporary physical theatre of Abandon, to the cutting edge cool of The Perfect American, 2014 is a year of delights, new experiences and thrilling theatrical adventures for audiences in metropolitan Brisbane.

We’d love you to join us through the year, both at the shows and in the spaces in between performances. OperaQ offers a range of fascinating insights into this amazing art form, access to rehearsals and social events where you’ll meet the artists. Or you can unleash your inner diva at an Open Stage workshop. We warmly invite opera lovers and newcomers alike to join us on this fabulous journey, abandon yourself to new experiences, get involved, discover your voice, be inspired and join OperaQ as we experience life less ordinary.
